Hello! I’m JoEllen, and live in Jupiter, Florida. Raised in Central Florida, I’ve lived along the eastern coast of Florida, from Miami to Daytona Beach, most of my life.
I have taught in South Florida for the past 23 years. My undergraduate and graduate degrees are from Nova Southeastern University. Presently, I hold state teaching certifications in Elementary Education K-6, Exceptional Student Education K-12, School Principal K-12, and I’m ESOL endorsed in Florida.
I have spent the bulk of my career dedicated to ensuring all students are taught how to read effectively and efficiently.
My personal and professional journey has led me to a strong background in Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and the culminating effects of challenges with Executive Functioning skills.
I also have extensive experience with reading instruction, including decoding (phonics), encoding (spelling), fluency, and comprehension. Plus, I’m trained as an Executive Function Coach and employ these strategies with my students.
Assisting students in learning self-advocacy skills is my specialty. I help parents and students communicate with schools systems so accomodations and supports are in place to provide the best possible outcome for my students.
When not working, my time is spend at the ocean paddle boarding, growing orchids, exercising, and cooking.
Feel free to ask me any questions you may have! You can reach me through Dr. Meg: drmeg@bealrighttutoring.com
